7 Steps To Radiant Skin (All Year Round!)
16 Sep 2016

Holiday time is nearly here! For those of you heading off to the beach, it means working hard to ensure your skin is in its best condition. If yours is tired, dull or just generally unresponsive to your frantic attempts at improvement don’t panic! A few simple adjustments to your daily and weekly routine can make a big difference to your skin all year round.
Here are seven of our favourites:-
Drink Water – Lots of It!
Your skin is the largest organ on your body so needs to be treated with respect. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water every day for maximum hydration and to bring out that elusive inner glow. Try keeping a glass on your desk at work or carry a bottle by your side to stay topped up. Dehydration leaves both you and your skin tired and lethargic.
Exfoliate for radiant skin
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and accelerates the process of skin renewal, allowing healthy skin to take its place. It’s also great for preparing your skin for your tan, whether fake or natural! Use a gentle exfoliant to suit your skin type. Removing the dead cell debris will reveal the vibrant, fresh skin lurking underneath.
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
To retain maximum moisture, apply your moisturiser immediately after your bath or shower to ensure supple, silky skin. Choose a moisturiser that’s kind to your skin like our new bodybutter, especially designed for dry skin. With nourishing sunflower oil and a rich hydrating cream of shea and cocoa butter it melts at body temperature and glides across your skin.
Get plenty of sleep
The amount of sleep we need changes as we age but most adults function healthily on between seven to eight hours every night. A hectic lifestyle, interrupted nights or excessive stress all play havoc with your sleeping patterns. Research carried out by The British Medical Foundation suggests that sleep deprived faces are seen as more tired. Lack of sleep also emphasises fine lines. For an added boost apply a moisturiser that revives tired skin while you sleep. My Trusty’s Little Sunflower Cream is rich in essential fatty acids and nourishing sunflower oil. If you’re feeling particularly jaded, our bodybutter is fragranced with neroli, bergamot and orange oil to uplift and energise – and it smells divine!
Eat a healthy, balanced diet
An excess of fatty foods can lead to skin breakouts or exacerbate irritating skin conditions. A skin boosting diet means plenty of vegetables, fruit, wholegrains and lean meat. We’re not saying cut out everything you enjoy – life would be really boring – but all things in moderation.
Protect your skin from sun damage
As sun-deprived Brits, the temptation to throw caution to the wind (or the sun) as soon as it appears from behind those pesky clouds often proves too much to resist. UV rays account for around 80% of ageing. To avoid sun damage always wear an SPF, stay in the shade when the sun is at its hottest, normally between 11am and 3pm and wear sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat to protect your face, ears and scalp. (PS : Our sunflower cream is also suitable for use as an aftersun!)
Minimise stress
Over time, soaring stress levels will take their toll on your skin. Following our tips above will help to reduce those levels but it’s also important to find some ‘me time’ in the midst of the chaos. We’ll discuss some simple ways of minimising stress in a forthcoming article.
Great skincare isn’t just for your holiday, it’s for life. A few simple changes to your daily routine will boost your energy levels and give you the healthy, radiant skin you crave.
